Q: Is there a waiting list and how soon should I register my child?
A: Please contact us to enquire about our waiting list - which is currently 6 months, we will always try to accommodate your preferred start date. We suggest registering your interest as soon as possible, as our spaces get filled very quickly
Q: Do I need to pay a deposit to secure their space?
A: The deposit is £50 (refundable) and the registration is £100 (non-refundable)
Q: We have decided Cranston is the right fit for our family, what happens now?
A: We would love to invite you to come and look around the nursery and make sure you are happy and comfortable to proceed. If you decide to proceed we will give you two hour long settling in sessions for free. At the first session we will give you a registration pack and go over payments, routines, what to bring to nursery, what a typical day in the nursery looks like etc. We want you to feel as comfortable as possible that you are making the right choice for you and your family
Q: What food is provided?
A: Children will receive a morning snack around 8:45-9am, a two course freshly cooked lunch and then an afternoon snack around 2:45-3pm to keep them going until they have dinner at home. You can view our menus here.
Q: Are the fees the same even if I drop off later or pick up earlier than the agreed session time?
A: We open at 7.30am and close at 6pm. You are more than welcome to drop off any time after 7.30am and pick up any time before 6pm. We charge per full or half day so the cost does not change
Q: Can I communicate with my child's room and keep up with my child during the nursery day?
A: Here at Cranston, we use the Famly app. This user friendly app allows you to view photographs from the day and read a daily post of what activities your child has been doing and any outings they have gone on. We also record here what food has been eaten and you can contact either management or your child’s room staff directly at any point during the day and we will get back to you as soon as we can
Q: What if someone else is picking up my child?
A: The Famly app allows you to record the details (including a photo) of anyone who is authorised to pick up your child. You also set a password in the app which staff will ask for if they do not recognise the person picking up your child
Q: What is included in the fees?
A: We provide lunch and snacks, nappies and wipes (ASDA Little Angels and fragrance free wipes). We also provide bowls, spoons, bibs etc. for activities and for lunch. We would just ask that you supply your own personal bibs if babies have bottles or are dribbling. We would also ask for you to provide your own nappy cream and sun cream. If your child requires any prescribed medication we can administer this once you have completed a medication administration form
Q: My child is still napping during the day, how do you deal with this in a potentially noisy environment?
A: We have a sleep room within the individual nursery rooms or we have sleep mats for children to have naps. We try to keep to your child’s routine that you have, in terms of sleep time. Children all sleep at different times. We go with each individual child as they are all individual. You can bring their sleep bag and dummy, or sookie! if this is what is used at home, it will help keep everything consistent for them. You are welcome to keep your child’s sleep bag and comforter here at nursery or you are more than welcome to take it home each night and bring it back the next day. We supply cot sheets which will go in their own box.
Q: What if I want to swap my child's days around?
A: Unfortunately we wouldn’t be able to swap days around as we have set days that the children use. We could offer you an extra session if we have availability with staff/ child ratio.
Q: When we go on holiday do we still pay for nursery?
A: Our nursery fees are calculated over the whole year and billed monthly in advance so we are unable to account for days off for holidays. The nursery closes for 2 days at Easter and just under 2 weeks at Christmas so that our staff can have a well deserved break and spend time with their own families. Parents pay for the full period to secure their child’s place at nursery. We kindly ask parents to update any planned holidays or time off for their child on the Famly app so that we can allocate food and staff appropriately
